Jubilee

We had a really fun street party to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our Queen.

Neighbours car (with Queen)
Our house was built for us in 1993, quite a few of our neighbours moved in to new builds in our road at the same time and we have lived here for nearly 29 years, with many of the original residents still here.  We had children about the same time that played together and went to school and college together, now they are adults they are still friends and bump into each other at the pub sometimes! We had a street party nearly every Summer over these years .

This  years was extra special of course ... celebrating our wonderful Queen's reign, we had a lovely day of eating and drinking, catching up with old neighbour friends and getting to know some new ones.

There was a royal family quiz, a best made crown for the children and lots of bunting and flags!

Despite being cloudy it didn't rain and went on all day - did you celebrate the Platinum Jubilee?

  1. That's sounds like a terrific party to celebrate. Similar, we moved here in 1991, but there's now so few original neighbors- just one 1/2 of the original couple across the street ( divorce and remarried) in our Cul de sac if 12 houses. But a few more 20+ years.

  2. That sounds a real community event. We didnt have much in our village , sadly. The enthusiasm doesnt seem to be there.

  3. Your house and street look so much like my Mum's old house! It's great that you and your neighbours have such a strong connection. What a lovely set up for your party. No street party here but on Saturday it was our local Gala Day then on Sunday there was a Jubilee Picnic in the Park which was well attended, I believe and the best part was the weather was glorious all weekend. I watched the celebrations on Saturday night but am still bemused as to why Diana Ross got top billing? Dame Shirley would have been my choice, if she could've managed it.

  4. It must be real fun when original residents meet after a long time. So much to catch up.

  5. Street parties are important these days when people usually stay inside with their PC, TV - mobile phones. They get wild without proper human interaction.

  9. Sounds like a good neighborhood. I used to live in one where everyone helped each other and we all got along. Nice!
