The weekend

The garden has been at its best the last few weeks, but hard work as needing a lot of water.

Sunday was a good opportunity to give  my car a good run... so I took an early morning drive over to Bexhill on Sea to catch the Gatsby event  A leisurely hour and a quarter run to recharge batteries (the car and mine!).

It was also a perfect chance to meet Vintage Vix who had brought her Kinky Melons vintage stall along and was offering some fabulous preloved vintage wares.

We have followed each others blogs for a few years and chatted by email about India, so I felt like I was meeting up with a long lost friend :)

She looks like a most beautiful red admiral butterfly, petite and delicate,  dressed and accessorised in fabulous vintage in my favourite colour (orange).

We had a lovely chat and sat in the sun for a while before I headed back, taking in a breezy walk along the beach and then drove the scenic route home.

Lovely to meet you at last Vix and Jon and hope to do so again!

Bexhill On Sea has a lovely
sandy beach when the tide is
out.

Bexhill on Sea

yesterday afternoon on my return home my younger son came on a woodland walk, we picked wild lilac and I left  it out in the garden in a vase for the butterflies and bees to visit.  The woods yesterday were beautiful, the wild flowers are above our heads along the footpaths and we were lucky to see a young stoat on the path ahead looking surprised, then shortly after that a deer, she was there for a second, poised and smelling the air and then gone in a flash.

Today has been really lovely, I started with a 40 length swim this morning at the gym, a 10 minute sauna and then home for lunch in the garden, followed by some gardening (digging out borders with overgrown bushes ready for replanting) ... then I brought my lilac flowers in for a spot of painting....

I noticed plenty of blackberries and elderberry forming so  made a note of the best spots.  Hoping to return and pick lots of berries later in the Summer to make flavoured gin- can't wait - I love the picking more than anything else I think!

I'm working the next few days so will be visiting your blogs for a catch up at the end of the week.  How was your weekend?

  9. Your painting is lovely!!! :)
I got envious when you mentioned you went for a swim...I wish I could swim around here, but the lakes are chalk full of boats lately, it's not very safe. The flowers look beautiful and I LOVE that old fashioned car photo! :)

  11. Hi Betty, it's been a while since your last visit. I'm thankful that you dropped by and left a comment.

How lovely to meet a blogger friend in person. I know the feeling as I met one of mine some years ago. You both look so at ease, barefoot by the sea. It will make a wonderful memory for both of you.

Your flowers are beautiful and so is your painting. Enjoy the rest of the summer. It's going fast.
    Hugs, Julia
