Today we have exciting news in Horley, Surrey, UK - we have oil! Having seen the news on tv that test drilling has indicated a potential 100 billion barrels of oil under the Surrey Hills, we drove to Horse Hill which is very near us and where it is all happening, but only saw a helicopter and one ITV film crew van and the chestnut horse that has been smiling at the cameras in all the news bulletins! There are mixed feelings here, some locals are worried about possible damage to the environment, others are excited at the prospect of town expansion, work and building opportunities that might come to the area.
After checking out Horse Hill we went off to the woods and found wood anemone, celandine, violet, wild strawberry, primrose and signs of bluebells.....
