Passing By

Thankyou for all your lovely comments on my last post.  I always reply to comments on the post so hope you know that I appreciate you passing by and have replied.

The garden's looking green and red with Autumnal colours - my solitary rose still blooms.

The woods are full of elderberry and I have made more cordial, it's so delicious I could keep making it forever.

The smell when it is cooking is better than aromatherapy
and I do wonder if I could have used the berries to dye my shirt - I recently took an old white shirt and dyed it pink with Dylon - it was a great result and I might try it again in another colour.  The shirt was £5 from Matalan and old and the dye was £2.90 plus some salt.

These little outdoor spiders are very pretty, if you pick them up they curl up like a nut.  I read somewhere that although a web looks typical to our eye, each one is unique in some way.

Looking forward to an evening woodland walk after work in search of bats..... have a lovely weekend

  1. Oh Betty ... how did I miss your last post??? Perhaps I was at Mums?? ... so sorry as do like to drop by & comment. I am so glad your son passed his driving test & just loved the photo - so nice to "meet you" in a photo :-)
Your woods are looking so beautiful, you know, I have never made elderberry cordial but reading about it often on your posts, makes me want to try. Perhaps I will give it a go just for the aromatherapy. Happy weekend to you Betty - hugs, Julie x0x0x (you know the bird songs when I read your posts are just so beautiful)

  2. Betty you made us laugh re Dylon. That is a blast from the past and it never worked way back then either. We are so sorry but we don't see the replies unless we go back to the old post. Maybe you can ask everyone else as it is a lot of work to reply to folk who don't see it. We made the same mistake when we first started and realised no one ever saw them. Hope this does not offend in anyway. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

    1. I'm glad you told me Molly! I always worried that if I didn't reply toa comment someone would be offended - perhaps its best to just email someone if there's something to say and not to worry any more if there isn't! I will have a bit more time to spare from now on thanks! Betty x

  3. Have a lovely woodland walk, Betty! I've been thinking about dye lately. Please show us your results.
    Take care, good friend.

  8. I've never had elderberry. What does it take like? Is it tart or sweet? or both? I hope you enjoy your woodland stroll. I wish I lived close enough to the woods to take a stroll whenever I wanted! I am a new follower! Looking forward to keeping up with your woodland adventures!

  9. That loks so good. I love the smell of cooking elderberry. I made some elderberry jam and everyone likes it ; )
