Today oldest boy passed his driving test - first time too! we are all very pleased that he has this under his belt before he starts Uni in a couple of weeks.
I wanted to show you this lovely calendar my blogging buddy Nana gave me...
It's got some really inspiring quotes and is just perfect - the illustrations are really sweet too.
Today I have been gardening, I planted a new lawn a month ago and it has become thick and green so I gave it a first haircut today, everything is looking rustic and autumnal.
There was a walk in the woods yesterday with youngest boy... lots of elderberries came back with us to make more kir.

Hi Betty, it's so nice seeing you even if you think that you have a bad hair day. I think that you look very wholesome and pretty. I get plenty of bad hair days especially in winter when I have to wear a tuque to keep warm but it doesn't define who I am, lol.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son on getting his driving permit.
Your lawn looks very green and lush. I have lots of weeds on mine.
Have a great week,
Hugs,
JB
Thankyou Julie - I thought it was time for a photo as it's a couple of years I think since the last and I changed a lot. I am loving my new lawn! but getting a bit obsessed with weeding it!
DeleteWell you look lovely bad hair day or not. Congratulations to oldest boy in passing his driving test. Well done. I bet the woods round you are fabulous this time of year. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Thankyou Molly, my hair will never be as glossy as yours but I think we share a love of walks outdoors which is a good beauty treatment. Today I have a wet nose like you too as have a little cold. The woods are looking very orange and yellow and pretty.
DeleteYour hair is CUTE! It's nice to see you!
ReplyDeleteYay for the driver! That is an accomplishment and yay for you! Your new grass looks great!
Thanks pompom, proud of our new driver.
DeleteCongratulations on eldest passing his driving test.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I think your hair looks healthy and natural, like someone who spends their time outside xx
Thankyou Mrs C - yes the windswept look is definitely for me!
DeleteWish I hadn't got my hair cut now - I love yours - fab colour and you suit that length. Many congrats to Big Lad - you do realise you won't see him for exhaust fumes for the next few weeks!!
ReplyDeleteCalender looks lovely. x
Thanks Nana - I bet yours looks lovely, bouncy and swishy in your new style. Big lad can't afford a car which is just as well as there's no parking at Uni (or here for that matter ha ha!) will have to wait a bit I think. But at least he's done it and can concentrate on his studies now.
DeleteYou look very different to what I thought but in a nice way. So good your son passed his test, its a very big thing.
ReplyDeleteThankyou Amanda, I think everyone in Blogland gets a visual image of what people are like and it's a surprise when they are different! my last picture on here was very old so I thought it was time to show the current me. Passing a driving test is a real confidence booster I think I am very pleased for my son.
DeleteThankyou for all the lovely comments and for visiting - it's busy the next couple of weeks with preparation for oldest boy to go off to Uni so I will catch up soon. Betty x
ReplyDeleteGood for you doing the brave pic : ) Lovely to see you. What wildly enviable lawn!
ReplyDeleteDavid finely passed his driving test last week...3rd go! but phew!! Still, he hadn't driven at all until 6 month ago & he's now 24. Big milestones..all the best for the uni prep. Much love Catherine
Hello Catherine - congratulations to your David too. I love my lawn, after 20 years of weeds and bare patches I can't believe how easy it was to rake it all off and throw seed and earth on it - nature did the rest! just lots of watering. I can't stop inspecting it for weeds though!
DeleteYou look gorgeous!! I love your garden and the calendar your friend gave you is too cute!! Good luck to your son at the University!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jody
Thankyou Jody. I wish you lived near me so you could pass some of your lovely veg over the fence - despite having an allotment for a year I never produced much! The lawn turned out well but nobody is allowed to walk on it!
DeleteBad Hair Day!!!! I think it looks very natural and care free.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have such a great friend to give you such a thoughtful gift. Love to know where to purchase one.
Congratulations to your son for passing his test. Its not the easiest thing to do know a days with all that traffic on roads.
Thanks for your kind comment on my post......xx
Yes, Linda I think driving tests are much harder than when I took mine 20 odd years ago. My son said he actually found it much easier to concentrate as the examiner didn't talk whereas his instructor (a woman) would yap on continuously and was very distractive!! Nana go-go is a lovely blogger who knits - she sent my calendar to me direct from Amazon so I expect there will be some more there.
DeleteGood Morning Betty,
ReplyDeleteI found your lovely blog by chance and I am really enjoying looking at all the wonderful things ! I too am a child of the 60's, I live in the U S in Arkansas. Hope you have a wonderful weekend !
Warm Regards,
Dawn
You're a very pretty lady! And I love your new calendar! It's sweet! Enjoy!
