I joined the painting class this week.  There is a 'resident tutor' who is a very accomplished artist in watercolour.  Everyone does their own thing and he comes round to help.  I didn't paint at the class but chatted and made some new friends, but I went home head brimming with new knowledge and ideas....

This is my first bit of homework - using a photocopy of my tutor's beautiful work on the left for my first attempt on the right... I'm not keen on copying as was brought up not to! but it will be helpful in the learning process, today was fun.

    You sound happy & motivated from your new class Betty - I love that watercolour poppy. I actually adore poppies, never used to but now I just love them all. So glad you are sounding and feeling much better - Julie Xox

    My first thought was to wonder why someone as talented as you was going to a class, but now I see that the stimulation must be fascinating. I do think that the right hand poppy is just as amazing as the left!

    What a beautiful painting, you will blossom and bloom in this new class.

    If you don't like copying other paintings, would your teacher help you use a photograph of place or flower to paint from?

    Glad the art class went well. I know just how you feel i go to a similar class where i live and i tend to chat more than i paint, but i just love ittttttt.
    I think my Spring swap went well with Rebecca from Criven cottage..Happy Painting.......xx

    You're definitely well on your way to being terribly good at it I think! Your poppy is charming! Keep it up, you have so much potential and in all honesty I've seen professional watercolour artists produce works less attractive than yours. This is something I would be happy to frame and hang in my home! Great job!
