Vintage Dress

I share a family photo album with my two brothers - it has just become my turn to own it for a while and I thought I would share the odd pic on my blog.  I think this might be the only picture of our parents together  - on their wedding day in my grandma's garden about 55 years ago.  My mum's wedding dress was white with red polka dots - so very pretty.  I would love a dress like this, wouldn't you?

  1. What a pretty dress, and what a pretty lady too. I guess it was somewhere in the 50s/60s, as I remember that style.

  2. Yes, Elizabeth, it would have been about 1958.

  3. YES! What a gorgeous design and the fact that it was really so toadstool-y in reverse makes it extra magic!

  4. Oh my goodness - I'm going to cry! What a very handsome couple and that dress is fantastic! Have you tried to get the photo copied so you can all have one each? They can do great things with those old pics these days. You've prompted me to get out the old black and white of my folks with me as a baby!Great pic, Betty.

    1. Mrs W I would love to make a dress like this, although I don't have a tiny 22 inch waistline like my mothers in this pic! I have limited experience on my little sewing machine but wouldn't it make a wonderful project.
