Something pretty

I love silk painting, and until now have always given my scarves away, I hadn't kept one - so this time I made one for myself in colours I like a lot... stretching across a 4 foot frame is not doing my back any good though - maybe I should save up for an easel!

I think it will look ok with a denim jacket.

The colours were inspired by this pretty eucalpytus tree.
I think that's enough butterflies for a while, time to look for new inspiration.

  6. Thankyou to everyone for your encouraging comments. Miss Holly it takes quite a time, you have to draw your outline on the stretched/pinned silk before you can start painting, that takes about 30 mins then you have to hairdryer the gutta outline so it dries - then you can paint the inks - an hour or so maybe - then iron, wash and iron again - so not very viable to try and make a living from (which is a shame because I am looking for a way to get rich quick! sadly silk painting isn't going to be 'it'). If you can get a local course it's well worth having a lesson to see if it's your 'thing' before splashing out on the equipment although the inks last ages. The other down side is really bad back ache! leaning over the stretched silk is not good for backs.
