Today has been magical, on a five hour walk with youngest boy , venturing much further than before, exploring new woodland, we were rewarded with the sight of this beautiful peacock butterfly on early blossom.  He didn't stay still so is a little fuzzy...

In a very old tree split in two, surprisingly low to the ground, we found a black bird nest, she flew away noisily or we would not have noticed, knowing she would be watching, we were careful not to get too close as it could mean she would not return to her eggs, we used the camera zoom to keep at a reasonable distance....

Since last week the wildflowers have bloomed, celandine, primrose, wild violet, jack-by-the-hedge and borage ... there is plenty of frog spawn around and there is evidence that bluebells are going to be abundant next month, huge areas are growing green, preparing to transform the woodland floor into a blue carpet very soon.

Today has been special indeedy and I have felt very privileged
to be with my young travelling companion and to stumble upon such wonderful finds,
Gratitude Sunday!

  1. Hi Betty! Birds' eggs are so incredibly miraculous. I'm so glad you and your sweet son had a nice amble!

  2. How lovely, proper signs of Spring! Those eggs are a work of art, hard to imagine that's nature. xxx

  3. Isn't Mother Nature wonderful? I too had a walk in the woods yesterday (only a short one, mind) and it was lovely to see everything springing into life, before our very eyes! I came home with a big bag of wild garlic ... ideas please?

    Have a wonderful week!

    Love Claire xxx

  4. Your finds must have made the day very exciting and special.

  5. Hope all is well with you Betty and so nice to see Spring has sprung. We are so enjoying the good weather. Hope you are too. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly
