Colour

Do you get colours in your head? I do - like some people get a song going round their head, I get colours - this week it has been these ..... I have been thinking of lilac flowers but haven't really painted them, just played - sometimes it's good to just play with colour and not be trying to make a masterpiece.  It's been that sort of week - any spare moment of time just doing what takes my fancy....

Colour influences my mood more than music, weather, food.....

Do you wake up and feel you should be wearing a certain colour today and nothing else will do?  even if it isn't quite right for the weather, you just need that colour next to you?

We have a bright sunny day in Surrey, a day off work, spare time, a longing to feel salty water on my feet.....I'm off for my day out - it's a no spend day - will tell you all about it soon.

  1. Your lilacs are so pretty!
I am glad I am not the only one who wakes up in the morning and "needs" to wear a certain color. I am absolutely inspired by color first!
Wishing you a sunny weekend! xo K.

    1. You too! I think it must be to do with well being - likewise I would never buy an item of clothing, however, beautiful, if the colours didn't sing to me.

  2. This is gorgeous, sometimes all that is needed is the right colours and a hint of the shape, just an impression, a hint, and a lovely soft feeling which is just right for lilac.

    1. Thankyou. I am thinking that colour could be used much more in therapy.

  4. Glorious lilac. Clever lady. Yes, yes, and yes to your questions about colour. Aren't we lucky to have so many to choose from though?

I'm curious about your day out...

    1. Thankyou. Yes so much colour, isn't it amazing how nature puts colours together. I am very interested in what bees 'see' too.

  5. Colour is so personal, isn't it?
I like yellow in Nature but would never wear it!
I am ) almost certainly!) strange because I quite like wearing blue and green together, my mother always said " blue with green should never be seen"!

    1. my 'other' grandmother used to say that and also blue and brown will make you frown! so I would make sure I wore blue and green or blue and brown together when I stayed, just to show her I could!

  6. Hi Betty, Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks for your advice re my quilts. It's funny because a couple of weeks ago I started advertising custom quilts and I've already got 2 orders so I'm really pleased :) These lilacs are gorgeous. I love colour too - I like to add colour to our home and I'm gradually getting more adventurous! Maggie xx

    1. That's good news about the commissions - maybe they will give you some testimonials to put on your shop and that will be the way to go.

  8. G'day Betty. Beautiful colours you have chosen. I am a bright colour girl myself. Pink is the main flavour and I have it everywhere around the house, but surprisingly I only have two pink jumpers and I pair of pink shoes.Glad you are having a sunny day. We are in winter here in Australia and it's been letting us know it's arrived, especially in my lovely part of our beautiful country. Take care. Liz...

    1. Hi Quilterliz, we are having a bit of a heatwave here - I am noticing the colours I wear are different to the colours I like to surround myself in the house with - pink is not popular here as it's just me and three men who always want blue or green (or brown even)!
