This week my obsession with leaves has been fed- by this beautiful leafy brooch. Made by Jackie Cardy by hand - the wool is dyed and felted and then she embroiders. Here is her blog, take a look, her work is really unusual.
I have admired Jackie's work for a year or so and feel so lucky to win her giveaway - I even got to choose the colours I liked.
Sorry if I am creating leaf envy - I will stop showing off now!
Thankyou so much Jackie for this beautiful piece of treasure.
It's been a restful week with pleasant feline company, this is my neighbours cat trying to steal an inch or two of my beautiful new crochet shawl - he wedges up next to me on the chair and won't budge - it's a squeeze. Has taken a long time for him to trust us as he is very jumpy. Neighbours don't seem to mind his absence although I never feed him as that would be enticement!
Ambercat likes a cosy corner balanced on the top of my chair so she can purr into my ear - this is what we three have been doing a lot of - sleeping!
Hubby has been doing the cooking and teenage/adult boys have been doing some laundry and dishwasher duties. I have been blessed in lots of ways this week as you can see.
No painting or crafts to show this week but maybe you have been creating? do stop for a chat.... do you have any decorations planned for Halloween? We have some pumpkins ready for carving and I have some craft books from the library too to keep me busy - will show you next time. Have a lovely weekend and thanks for visiting and all your friendly comments on the last couple of posts.

A beautiful brooch Betty - yes I have leaf envy!!! So glad to hear you have been resting - honestly that is what will help you mend quicker than anything. I well remember with my neck, I just had to go and rest every afternoon and some people got "offended" by that - but for once, I had to think of myself. Keep up the great work - lovely feline pics too, Hugs, Julie :-)
ReplyDeleteYes a beautiful brooch. Perfect colour choice.
ReplyDeleteYou have been a lucky thing lately.
I love the blue on your blanket-it reminds me of Cornish cottages-white washed with blue woodwork.
Sft x
A very beautiful brooch indeed...
ReplyDeleteThose kitties are darling as well...

I do love that leaf! It has such intricate detail. And your neighbour's cat is beautiful, what a tiger. Your pretty little one is so sweet. x
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your crocheted shawl, Betty! The cats look so warm and snuggly! I'm so glad you are receiving some pampering, dear one.
ReplyDeleteI DO have leaf envy! The brooch is extra special!
Keep mending.
I love this brooch and the colours are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThose kitties look so contented, they do say that cats choose their owners..(
I know one is only borrowed)
Have a peaceful Friday and give your self time to 'be rather than do' at the moment...

Oh that is a gorgeous broach, and thank you for posting it as you've now introduced me to a new artist's blog to follow.
ReplyDeleteLovely felted leaf! Hope the pretty accessory and the cats are helping you feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky duck winning the giveaway and what a prize. I love it and love the colours you chose. Hope you're on the mend and glad the men are helping you with the chores. Delightful kitty pics too :)
ReplyDeleteHello dear Betty...I have been thinking of you. Awkward with the one arm paper hanger bit but perhaps quite good for you to have a slower pace just for a wee while. Luckily you have all your blogging friends to keep you connected. What a lovely brooch indeed. Felting is quite fascinating isn't it..love the velvet in the leaf too. Hope hubby has a decent repertoire! Much love Catherine x0x0x
ReplyDeleteWe have a white kitty - we've never been much of a cat family until Bamboo joined. How we love his purr! Hope you are having a cozy, restful day :)

Dear Betty - hope your are doing okay - love your leaf - it is simply outstanding. So glad you won. Looks like you have some wonderful company while you are recovering. Take care and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Betty
ReplyDeleteRe the blue wording, you need to clean out your recent history in your control panel as they are appearing from your browser, if you are in internet explorer. I now use google chrome to stop all of that. Its not on my site it is tagging from IE. Does that make sense.
Best wishes Molly
thankyou Molly - you are a very clever dog - you're right - there's no ghosties on your posties - they are all hiding right here in my computer - I'm going to have to get them out after halloween.
DeletePleasure Betty. Sometimes the highlights are not so nice so I clear my browser history when I shut down at night as it also slows things down if you don't. Also internet explorer is very buggy so when I started blogging I switched to Google chrome which is safer. I use both for different things now.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Thank you so much Betty for the post about the brooch. It looks super on your jacket. I should photograph them more often on garments. I love cats too. We don't get strays visiting as our boy is such a bruiser they're scared!
