Thankyou  kind bloggers who have emailed with advice about the watercolouring and left comments that are extremely generous.  I am loving this new hobby and had a go with wet paper this time...

Today we heard the birds singing at 5am for the first time in a long while, I hope that means Spring is on the way.  The snow is melted and it is much milder here.  I am obsessed with grape hyacinth (muscari) and snowdrops - I think the garden centre is where I will be most likely to see some.

I have some lovely overtime so will be busy over the weekend but looking forward to catching up on your blogs next week. Betty

  1. That's such a pretty picture of the grape hyacinths, Betty. I really appreciate the way you're sharing your learning-curve with us here. Thanks for your comment about P in L too - it looks like a theme will be helpful!

  2. Lovely watercolours: you really have a feel for delicate flowers.
Can't you find any snowdrops, Betty? :( I have come across quite a few clumps now, mostly semi-wild from just beyond peoples' gardens.
Maybe its a bit early for grape hyacinths? I don't know, exactly.
I love their colour - blue in Nature is always really special, IMHO.
    Have a good weekend,
    xx Hazelnut / Alex

  3. I didn't hear the birds at 5am! But I can vicariously enjoy them through you!

  4. I think you are a natural water colorist, Betty!
I bought some more bird seed because of your singing birds!

  5. Clever you..I love your water colourings especially your foxgloves. I found some embroidered foxgloves this week..they make me smile. I adore mascari..they have a lovely subtle scent. As I recall they are one of the first bulbs to flower in spring,(I hope you find some) along with the snowdrops. I'm glad that you liked Nettie..perhaps you could go to the wing shop too : ) x0x0x
